Local firm all under one roof at new industrial premises

A LEICESTERSHIRE roofing contractor now has all its operations under one roof after purchasing industrial premises in Digby Drive, Melton Mowbray.

Lee & Cooke Roofing, a family business which has been trading for 35 years, comprises three companies – two of which were previously based around the corner at leased premises in Beler Way and the third based in Coalville.

Company secretary Wendy Brown said the business had been looking to relocate to a freehold unit on one site but was keen to remain on the Leicester Road industrial Estate in Melton Mowbray.

She added: “We’d been looking for somewhere suitable to purchase in the area and happened to notice the agent’s sign going up on the industrial unit in Digby Drive.

“The new premises, Unit 5, were in great condition, but we’ve made a few changes to the internal space to meet our specific business requirements.”

Lee & Cooke was originally in Kibworth but has been trading from Melton Mowbray for the past 25 years and now employs 13 people in total.

Owning its own premises and siting all three companies under one roof will bring operational benefits to the company.

Wendy added: “Most of our work is undertaken in the Midlands region, although some of our contracts for major customers such as National Grid are nationwide. Being in a central location with good access to road networks is important to us.”

Steve Scott from Innes England acted on behalf of the landlord. He said: “It’s a positive sign in this market that within a few days of the board going up on the property, we had negotiated and agreed a sale of the unit. It is the ideal location for Lee & Cooke and we’re pleased that the company has been able to meet its objectives by buying the right premises in the area in which it wishes to remain.”
