Joules give Derbyshire some ‘welly’ with new store

FASHION retailer Joules has opened its first store in Derbyshire this month (22 June), following the brand’s ever-growing success across the UK.

The lifestyle and fashion brand has taken the lease of a former Derbyshire building society unit, 24 Market Place in Ashbourne, in a deal secured by commercial property consultant Innes England.

24 Market Place met all of the retailer’s needs, offering a quintessential British location in the rural town of Ashbourne, and will be let to Joules on a ten year lease.

David Ball at Joules said: “Joules was founded in Market Harborough, which is a market town not dissimilar to Ashbourne. We’ve waited some time to find the perfect location here and 24 Market Place ticked all the boxes.

“We were attracted to the building as it is architecturally striking, big enough to house our ever expanding range and in a fantastic position on the high street. We are delighted to have now opened our doors and showcase the brand to local people and the many visitors that Ashbourne attracts.”

Joules currently has 102 stores across the UK and Ireland, and has representation in over 1000 wholesale accounts including John Lewis and House of Fraser.

Joules has hired a full team of eight to staff the new store, helping to bolster opportunities in the community and create new retail roles.

Ben Taylor, associate director at Innes England's Derby office, said he was pleased to have helped Joules find the ideal location in Derbyshire.

He said: “We are delighted to have supported Joules in finding 24 Market Place, which is a perfect fit for the brand. We have been speaking to the team at Joules for some time and have worked hard to help them find the ideal location for its store in Ashbourne.

“Ashbourne is a picturesque location in the Derbyshire Dales, known for its history and beautiful countryside. Its retail and leisure offering is continuing to grow with new and exciting complementary food and beverage operators such as Jack Rabbits opening recently, we are certain Joules will meet the needs of locals and tourists alike.”
