East Midlands property expert appointed to IPF board

MATTHEW Hannah, chartered surveyor and director of Innes England, has been appointed to the Midlands board of the Investment Property Forum (IPF).

The IPF is the leading UK property investment organisation for individual members and is active in the Midlands, London, the north of England and Scotland. Formed in 1988, it comprises an influential network of senior professionals, all of whom are active in the property investment market.

Core activities of the IPF include research, education and networking events to improve the understanding and efficiency of property as an asset class.

Its members include a range of influential property investors, developers, lenders, professionals and property focussed academics.

Innes England has a long association with the IPF and has hosted several events during the past ten years. These have included energy efficiency in existing buildings, valuation aspects and investment performance of sustainable buildings, and the annual launch of De Montfort University’s research into commercial property lending – a leading report used by lenders, the Bank of England and the Government.

David Smith, a founder board member of the Midlands IPF and director at Strata Real Estate said: “I am very pleased that Matthew has accepted our invitation to join the IPF board. He will make a positive contribution and increase the IPF’s activities in the East Midlands.”

A practicing commercial chartered surveyor, Matthew has an established career history in the investment, retail and leisure sectors.

Matthew has already started this new role and explains his commitment to the IPF: “I am proud of the strong relationship we have developed with the IPF over the last ten years and delighted to have been invited to join the board to continue with its work to enhance the understanding and efficiency of property as an investment.

“I feel there is a strong synergy between my work as a property consultant and IPF board member. The work of the IPF addresses the most timely and significant concerns facing the sector and as a practicing property consultant, you are constantly required to provide strategic and focused advice, increased efficiencies and favourable conclusions for clients.”

There are a total of 12 board members responsible for developing the membership and events in the Midlands including Darren Williamson, Freeth Cartwright's head of real estate in Nottingham, who was appointed to the IPF board in 2012.
