Derby’s Castleward scheme welcomes successful salon

  •

Regeneration in Derby is well underway with a new salon opening its doors at the city’s Castleward development, in a deal overseen by commercial property consultancy Innes England.

Boulevard is owned by local hairdresser Katerina Christodoulou, who has years of experience running salons and working as an independent hairdresser. The salon has created five jobs since it opened its doors with the appointment of a barber, two stylists and two beauty therapists.

Boulevard is the first business to open at Castleward and has taken an 850 sq ft unit, one of 13 commercial units located at the development.

Katerina said: "We're delighted to be the first business to move into this new development. Castleward is an exciting, up and coming area. The amount of footfall the Boulevard attracts is great and, although we have only been open a couple of days, business has been brisk.

"Although the premises look very posh we've made sure that our prices are affordable - and a little cheaper than those in the city centre, as this gives customers a reason to venture out to us and give us a try."

Innes England is working to let the remaining commercial space for Compendium Living, the company leading the £100 million Castleward regeneration project.

Sales, lettings and support manager at Innes England, Debbie Thompson said: “We are delighted to welcome Boulevard salon to the Castleward development. It marks the first unit to be let at the site, with the 12 remaining units already receiving attention from a multitude of businesses. It’s a high-profile development in a desirable central location next to the inner ring road and strong links to intu Derby and the railway station, making it the perfect place for investment.”

Managing director at Compendium Living, Dave Bullock said: “We are delighted to welcome Boulevard to Castleward and we expect them to be the first of a number of independent businesses to move into this exciting new neighbourhood."
