Commercial property specialists Innes England and NG Chartered Surveyors have brokered a deal which will see an expanding furniture retailer take larger premises on Sherwood Park in Nottinghamshire.

Barker and Stonehouse has moved its storage facilities to the 15,028 sq ft Willow Drive after outgrowing its previous premises in Giltbrook Industrial Estate. The warehouse will support the retailer’s store in Giltbrook Retail Park.

Jonathan Seddon of NG, who acted for a private landlord on the deal, said: “This was a real team effort by everyone at NG and Innes England. The unit at Willow Drive was refurbished to a high standard as a consequence of NG agreeing a comprehensive programme of works with the former tenant Dixons as part of its dilapidations. For NG, which is joint agent with FHP for its client, this is the second deal in quick succession on Sherwood Park after an earlier letting to KSG, a granite importer. It just goes to show that quality space won’t stay around on the market for very long.”

Peter Soakell, financial director at Barker and Stonehouse, said: “Innes England dealt with the deal in a professional, straightforward manner and I would have no hesitation in recommending their services.”

Craig Straw of Innes England, who advised Barker and Stonehouse, added: “Modern, good quality warehouse accommodation remains a relatively scarce resource in the region and we were therefore delighted to secure the Willow Drive property which enabled our client to treble the size of its distribution facility to support the growth in its retail network.

“Innes England has been instructed to dispose of the retailer’s original 5,647 sq ft facility at Giltbrook which, as a rare freehold opportunity, is already attracting strong levels of interest.”

Tim Gilbertson of FHP added: “It was a pleasure to see this deal completed on behalf of our client who owned these buildings since construction and they have always let well given their excellent specification and superb positioning adjoining J27 of the M1 motorway. “The lack of space in the market combined with the good quality opportunity always seemed to be a winning combination as proved with the quick letting to Barker and Stonehouse.”
