THE RISE in popularity of the Hambleton Bakery will see it open a fifth outlet in West Bridgford this April.
Hambleton Bakery, which specialises in delicious artisan breads, cakes and savoury products without preservatives, was founded by Tim Hart, who owns and runs the boutique Hart’s Hotel in Nottingham – and Hambleton Hall in Rutland.
The award-winning bakery already has shops in Exton, Oakham, Oundle and Stamford – and has chosen Melton Road in West Bridgford for shop number five. In a deal done by Matt Hannah of Innes England with John McCluskey of Marriotts who acted for the landlord, Hambleton Bakery will move into the unit this spring.
Tim Hart said: “We chose Melton Road after considerable discussion with Matt Hannah because we believe it to be a convenient ‘drop in’ location for an affluent local community.”
In Melton Road, the bakery will rub shoulders with other independent eateries – including one of Nottinghamshire’s last remaining fishmongers, two delicatessens, and a niche beer shop selling British ales. Further along Melton Road, the local butcher has extended his store.
The Melton Road area is seeing a big resurgence in independent retail, said Matt Hannah.
“It is wonderful to see so many stores and eateries opening up in Melton Road,” he said. “More and more independents are moving into the area as people shop local.
“The shop is surrounded by high quality local food retailers, which makes it the perfect location Hambleton Bakery to locate their fifth shop, and their first in Nottinghamshire.”
In 2013, Hambleton Bakery won Britain’s Best Bakery from the ITV show and head baker Julian Carter won the Bakery Industry Award for Baker of the Year.
Hambleton Bakery makes traditional bread, some recipes dating back 200 years. Hambleton’s Local Loaf – one of many types of bread made by the bakery – uses stoneground flour milled by a local windmill.
“Artisan breads are becoming more popular as people are looking for good quality goods,” added Tim. “We make our breads, cakes and savouries without preservatives or additives the best ingredients.”
