INNES England has picked up ‘Agent of the Year’ at the Insider property awards for the East Midlands. The Midlands property agent came away with the award after fending off stiff competition from national and regional agents.

To win the award, Innes England has secured a series of high profile deals to support business in the East Midlands over the last 12 months. Highlights include the temporary relocation of Derby City Council employees while the council house undergoes a programme of refurbishment, securing the sale of the first 14-acre phase of the residential element of the 228-acre RAF Newton site to Bellway Homes and David Wilson Homes and, acting for developer Goodman, completing the largest office letting in Leicester of 25,000 sq ft to national training organisation learndirect.

Robert Hartley, managing director of Innes England, said: “In tough conditions our in-depth knowledge of the East Midlands property market and strong network of contacts allowed us to identify opportunities for clients and underlines the quality and consistency of our service to clients. Building on this exceptional accolade we are continuing to promote the East Midlands by working with partners and developers encouraging inward investment to the area.

“It is a great reward to the huge effort the team has, and continues to, put in. Whilst market conditions remain challenging, we firmly believe local market knowledge and tenacity will ensure we retain our market leading performance enabling us to ensure that clients are able to achieve their goals whatever their property need.”

“This has been a great week for the business following the publishing of the Estates Gazette national UK Agency Rankings for 2011 where we have risen to 44th position for turnover – the highest ranked East Midlands firm – and ranked 28th for turnover by fee earner.”

Insider magazine cited: “A close call, but Innes England triumph after a succession of noteworthy deals over the last 12 months. Perhaps our strongest category this year, with the judges split down the middle as to who should win. Entries came from agents who played an integral role in the delivery of key schemes by working with developers and occupiers”.

The award, sponsored by Strata Real Estate Consulting, comes off the back of winning the Estates Gazette interactive most active agent of the year 2010 for the fourth consecutive year. It establishes the agents completing the largest number of deals.
