Derby in 00-heaven with Innes England charity Bond showing

  • Derby Quad all set for Spectre

MORE than 100 professionals from across the East Midlands gathered at Derby’s QUAD centre last week (4 November) for a special showing of Spectre hosted by Innes England to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The company has been supporting the charity throughout the year and has already exceeded its £10,000 fundraising target having raised more than £12,000 and counting.

Guests from Derby, Leicester and Nottingham dug deep at the charity event, raising a further £560.70 – something that managing director Tim Garratt is delighted about.

He said: “We have been overwhelmed by the level of support we have received this year, people have been fully behind our fundraising activities and we are delighted to have raised nearly £13,000 for Cancer Research UK.

“We set ourselves a target of £10,000 at the start of the year and to have surpassed that significantly is fantastic. This is a worthy charity and we are pleased to have been able to raise so much money to help support the invaluable work they are doing – and we’ve had a great deal of fun doing it.”

The Innes England team has taken part in a number of fundraising activities during the year, taking on a 75 mile bike ride and a squash tournament as well as a number of Race for Life events and the Pretty Muddy 5km event. Staff have also enjoyed a series of themed dress up and dress-down days.

Paula Scaife, senior fundraising manager at Cancer Research UK, said: “I’d like to thank Innes England for their support this year. Every step we make towards beating cancer relies on every pound, every hour, every person.

“Cancer Research UK’s vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived.

“But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive. Cancer Research UK’s aim is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease within the next 20 years. However, it is only thanks to Cancer Research UK’s supporters, like Innes England, that this will be achieved.”

The Spectre showing marked the final fundraising event to be hosted by Innes England in 2015.
