Cycle challenge raises more than £3,000 for charity

CYCLISTS from businesses across the East Midlands have helped to raise more than £3,000 for charity as they took part in the Innes England Team Relay on 25 June.

The commercial property consultancy, which has offices in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby, invited its staff, clients and partners to take part in the event, which formed part of this year’s Cycle Live festival in Nottingham, to help kick off its 25th anniversary celebrations.

The cycle race, which pitted teams of four against one another in a 45 minute relay race around a one mile closed road circuit at Victoria Embankment, was hosted in support of the Alzheimer's Society.

Tim Garratt, managing director at Innes England, said: “We couldn’t have been more pleased with the Innes England Team Relay, even the weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the competitors or the family and friends who had come along to show their support.

“The event marked the start of our 25th anniversary celebrations and it was brilliant to see so many local businesses take part and enjoy the day – with a number more getting involved in the City Ride with their families in the morning too.”

Businesses taking part were asked to make a contribution to the Alzheimer’s Society, helping Innes England raise more than £3,000 for the charity. Nottingham-based solicitors Freeths even encouraged its clients to sponsor its team ahead of the relay.

Tim added: “Dementia is something that will touch so many of our lives and I know that the money we have raised will make a real difference – so thank you to everyone who has donated.”

Chris Simon from organisers Perfect Motion, said: “This year’s Cycle Live event was our biggest yet and I’m delighted that the Innes England Team Relay and Innes England City Ride went well.

“Those taking part seemed to have a really good time and it’s great that it also generated £3,000 for their chosen charity. I’d like to thank Tim and the rest of the team for their involvement this year and wish them every success during the rest of the 25th year.”

More than 700 people from across Nottinghamshire took part in the Innes England City Ride, a family-friendly event with rides over 2.5, 7.5 and 10.5 miles.

Teams from BWB Consulting, Freeths, Geldards, HD Decisions, Hormann UK, Leonard Design Architects, Massers, RizkMcCay, Shakespeare Martineau and St James’s Place joined Innes England for the team relay, with Schofield Commercial Interiors taking home the winner’s trophy.
