ROBIN HOOD GOES STATESIDE
September 2009

The Nottingham City’s real Sheriff has set up a Commission to maximise the impact of the City and Counties’ legendary outlaw – Robin Hood – to the benefit of Nottingham’s residents and visitors.

The Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillor Leon Unczur will be accompanied by a number of representatives from the Sheriff’s Commission on his tour of five US cities. Tim Garratt, one of the representatives and Director at Innes England’s Nottingham office is an advisor to the Commission.

“The agenda for the trip has three aims – to look at world class attractions and see how some of their features might transfer to Nottingham. Secondly, the Sheriff will use his Office to promote Nottingham as much as possible.  And, thirdly to meet key business contacts and potential partners.”

Soundings had been taken from a number of interested parties about best practices and it was generally agreed that the USA lead in terms of world class attractions. The group will be looking for ideas, inspiration and practical examples of how major US attractions operate and compete.

The report is coming to its conclusion and it is likely to be shown in draft in October.
