Surveyors in the saddle for charity

A dedicated team of Innes England cyclists have completed a challenging 75 mile bike ride from Nottingham to Skegness in support of Cancer Research UK; the cyclists and supporters have now helped to bring the current fundraising total to over £10,000.

Innes England has committed to fundraising for Cancer Research UK throughout 2015 through a range of fun yet challenging activities including the already completed: Easter dress down event, squash tournament, Pretty Muddy 5k and the 75 mile bike ride.  

Fifteen cyclists of all abilities from the commercial property consultancy tackled the bike ride, setting off as a group from Lowdham in Nottingham and completing in Skegness with a celebratory fish & chip supper!

Matthew Hannah, director at Innes England, said: “We are overjoyed by the support we have received during all our fundraising events so far – and we are astonished to have raised £10,000 already. This is way above our target and we really couldn’t have achieved this without everyone’s support – we are so proud of our team of cyclists.

“The bike ride was a great example of our employees’ dedication to supporting a good cause – everyone’s enthusiasm was truly fantastic. It was a great day and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their fish & chips at the end.”

The cyclists not only raised a remarkable amount of money for charity, but reached their destination in four hours, 18 minutes – an impressive time to cover 75 miles. 

Tim Garratt, managing director at Innes England, said: “The bike ride was challenging, but incredibly rewarding as we managed to raise an amazing amount of money. We are proud to support Cancer Research UK and are excited to see how much money we can raise in total this year.”

Last month, five ladies from the firm took part in the Pretty Muddy 5k race in Leicestershire, one of the regional Race for Life events – raising more funds towards the total. The Pretty Muddy race is a 5km route filled with challenging obstacles, which can be tackled by crawling, climbing and running through a muddy terrain. The energetic partakers were Charlotte Stubbins, Debbie Thompson, Enfys Thomas, Katie Richardson and Shelley Buxton.

It is absolutely amazing that the staff and clients of Innes England have already raised over £10,000 for Cancer Research UK. Thanks to supporters like the staff at Innes England and their clients Cancer Research UK will be able to save more lives, we will bring forward the day when all cancers are cured and we will do it sooner.”
