New deals for Derby rail sector

THE RTC Business Park in Derby, owned by LCR, has secured a letting of 15,818 sq ft office to Network Rail on a five-year agreement, representing one of the largest single transactions in the city this year.

The deal was completed by joint agents Innes England and Sanderson Weatherall following nine months of negotiations. Under the terms, Network Rail will also refurbish the Brunel House property.

Steve White, property manager at LCR, said: "Attracting a tenant of the calibre of Network Rail underlines the RTC Business Park's reputation as a centre for rail and engineering excellence."

RTC Business Park provides 430,000 sq ft of accommodation of 28-acres. Other occupants include Carillion Construction, Serco and Hitachi Rail.

Nick Hosking, director at joint letting agency Innes England, added: “Network Rail taking Brunel House is extremely positive news for the campus and is a further endorsement of the decision by the owners, supported by assistance from Derby City Council’s Regional Growth Fund, to make such a significant financial investment into the scheme.”

“The quality of space within the scheme is meeting the needs and aspirations of existing occupiers and succeeding in attracting new inward investment and delivering new jobs. This ongoing investment process continues and encouragingly we already have competing occupier interest in the office and lab space currently being brought to the market.”
